Venice Highlights Tour
- 4 hours, € 360 for the guide and € 200 for the private water taxi
- Tickets to the Basilica of San Marco: € 12 per person
Today you will explore the top highlights of Venice, the richest part of a city absolutely full of riches. This tour is just for you and completely customizable. A nice flow is to start at Piazza San Marco, where the Basilica of San Marco makes a stunning golden architectural reliquary for the body of Saint Mark the Evangelist. We can arrange a skip-the-line entrance to the basilica - not to be missed. Next door is the Doge's Palace, the seat of power of the Venetian Republic for centuries – and also where prisoners like Casanova were kept in dark cells. Next walk the back streets of Marco Polo's neighborhood to the Rialto Bridge area, where Venice was first established in the 7th century. Pop into the Fondaco dei Tesdechi which overlooks the Grand Canal, once a combination of palace, warehouse, and market for German merchants in the 16th century and now a high-end shopping venue. The panoramic view from the upper terrace is one of the best in Venice.
The last hour will be on a beautiful private water taxi so that you can see the palaces and charming side canals from the water. Venture to the eastern edge of Venice to see the Arsenale, where ships were built during the height of Venice's power.
You can also do just three hours with the guide, without the water taxi ride. The price is € 240 euro.
Tickets to the Basilica of San Marco, including the Pala d'Oro, are € 12 per person.
